Many of you know I have very little patience with many things and mounds of it with others... well waiting at the airport is not one of the things I can wait on. Many of you may also know that flying to Ohio this summer is the first time I have ever flown. While the actual flying part was not to terribly bad the waiting is HORRENDOUS! Our flight out of Gulfport was delayed more than three hours. Thankfully the weather in Atlanta was the cause of all of this nonsense which meant that we did not miss our connection... Not only did we not miss it we got to sit in the very chaotic very smell Atlanta airport for about two hours and WAIT! for our flight. Well, as bad as the waiting was I was able to get a lot of reading done, and even managed a small nap. BUT! we finally made it. We rolled into Lake Milton about 2:30 this morning, it was a grand adventure. (one I desperately hope not to repeat) Now I'm looking forward to getting started here. Which will not require me to wait much longer. Thank to Jesus for looking out for my sanity once again.
I was also reminded that Ohio is not Mississippi... Southern hospitality does not ooze out of everyone you meet. And, try and my parent might to instill those lovely northern ideas of theirs, southern blood runs through my veins. I'm afraid I may be in for much more culture shock as the summer continues, but I suppose its all part of the plan. I've been reading and studying a lot about discipleship and what that really looks like deep down. Sacrifice to the point of having nothing. It's a hard pill to swallow sometimes, but one I hope to choke down if it kills me.
I miss my friends desperately... praying for everyone and can't wait to be back together to hear all about EVERYTHING!
culture shock for ALL of us! hip hip hooray!
