Big things are happening!

I am currently sitting in the middle of a laughing fest, why is everyone laughing? I have no idea, but its still fun. This weekend has been one of the best and one of the craziest weekends, ever. Well... maybe not ever, but it was pretty crazy. As I've told you Mothers Weekend was the theme, and we did many many things. We took her to breakfast. My favorite part of breakfast was the HUGE "MOM" balloon we had. My sister her husband and I than spent a good portion of the day shopping for mothers day stuff, and a few other things of course. Then we came home and there was more craziness which included my dad pouring water all over my computer, and my mom buying ice cream for dinner. Good times. (Fredrick is okay... I had a small melt down, but the ice cream restored everyone's spirits)
Today, we went to church and had a wonderful service which Pastor Brian did. He shared about his experience in Taiwan, and about picking up Baby Nate, and the things God taught him there. It was amazing and I was reminded that our God is big! Bigger than anything we might ever imagine. PB spoke from II Chronicles 20. I feel like I should share this with you all so here is a (not so) brief run down of the story.... Jehoshaphat finds out that Judah is about to fall under attack.... While he is alarmed the first thing he does is go to God for help. Now I'm on Brian's side thinking this man is a little crazy for not first protecting his kingdom.... not only does he not fortify the city he takes him time praying to God and thanking Him and praising Him, finally he gets to the point... God, we're in trouble.... Okay so thats what we should do (obviously its in the Bible, but just hang on) Now he's prayed get busy protect your kingdom and your people.... NO! thats not what he does, Jehoshaphat WAITS ON THE LORD!!! Oh dear, how many times have I (have we all) been so impatient over such small things. This man is about to destroyed and he waits for the Lord's timing (I don't know about you but I'm amazed). Okay it gets better Jahaziel, he receives the Spirit of the Lord and this is what he has to say (this is my favorite part its verse 15) "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: 'DO NOT BE AFRAID OR DISCOURAGED BECAUSE OF THIS VAST ARMY, FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS, BUT GOD'S." Imagine... what could happen if we took this attitude everywhere we went this summer.... all over the world, the attitude of prayer and patience. I am convinced that big things are happening... big things are waiting to happen, and its going to be really really exciting and wonderful!! WOW!
(calm down here's the rest of the story) Jehoshaphat gathers his army and they go, praising God as they march into battle, they defeat their enemies (or rather, the enemies defeat themselves, its cool you should read it), and the people continue to praise the Lord. What a great story.

Today has been a roller coaster of emotion, I've been full of love for the people around me, full of joy and excitement, (OH I MET BABY NATE TODAY!!!!) full of fear about the summer, worried about what might happen. I've been full of sadness for those around me who are suffering, and for those across the world that are lost, and being led astray. However, I am taking comfort in the knowledge that this battle is not mine. I hope you all find this encouraging.

Until next time...

  1. ALY WEIMER THIS IS THE BEST THING I'VE READ ALL DAY! You are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. The battle is not ours. Wait. "THE LORD will fight for you - you need only to BE STILL" - Exodus 14:14... "Be still and know that I AM GOD - i WILL BE EXALTED among the nations - I WILL BE EXALTED in all the earth." - Psalm 46:10.
God is doing big things. And bigger things are still to come.
